A chance for Coordinators and those running on-the-land/water programming for Indigenous youth to informally connect with others doing similar work and chat about anything you want to with a small group of people.

The Canada National Gathering is where Indigenous STEM students and professionals have an opportunity to gather, connect, and create long-lasting relationships within Canada and across the continent.

This high-energy event will feature a dynamic group of youth leaders who’ve rolled up their sleeves and made waves with their climate action initiatives. As panelists, they’ll showcase the innovative solutions they’ve brought to life—from tackling plastic pollution to restoring marine ecosystems—and share their stories of resilience, creativity, and impact. 

Through the Indigenous Youth & Community Futures Fund (IYCFF), we invest in opportunities for Indigenous youth to connect with their land, languages and cultures, and strengthen and deepen their relationships within and across Indigenous communities. We also support the transmission of cultural practices and knowledge to future generations.

This gathering will convene Indigenous organizations and communities, university researchers, government representatives, business and industry leaders, and not-for-profit partners to share and mobilize knowledge generated through Indigenous-led and co-led research initiatives. A $15,000 Knowledge Braiders Award is also available for those interested in presenting their work (deadline to apply is January 17, 2025).

Join us for a tour of the new YOLO website, a place to connect with others running or supporting on the land programs for Indigenous youth across Canada. The website (www.youthontheland.ca) has sections on funding, tools/resources, news/events, and programs / examples of what others are doing across the country. There will also be time for some discussion and sharing about the on the land programs that attendees are connected to so that we can all learn from each other, and time to provide feedback on the website to shape its ongoing revisions. Action Grants support projects that directly involve people and communities to change behaviours and/or practices leading to measurable conservation outcomes in British Columbia. Projects should work to create solutions or sustainable practices, or mitigate human-caused impacts to prevent or reduce impacts to species or ecosystems.

The Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions – Community Climate Action Events program supports community events that aim to advance climate action that makes tangible impacts. Events could include a range of activities that inspire and contribute towards community climate action (e.g., planning and problem solving, building relationships and skills, and fostering meaningful conversations).
