First Nations Education Steering Committee Conference

The conference theme this year is Connecting to Our Land, and will explore how First Nations connections to the land are the foundation for many aspects of learning and education, including First Nations education authority, language learning, ecological learning, and more. The theme includes, but is not limited to, examples of First Nations language learning and on the land learning.

Indspire is pleased to announce that the 2024 National Gathering for Indigenous Education will take place via a hybrid format, allowing educators from across the country to attend virtually or in person.

Indigenous Youth Roots Creation Grants – Land and Food Sovereignty Stream

The Land and Food Sovereignty Funding Stream aims to increase opportunities to participate in land-based programming, learn about food and medicines and engage with knowledge keepers. Projects in this stream need to be Indigenous-led and youth-focused, although community-focused and intergenerational activities can be run. Funding of up to $20,000 will be provided to projects/groups that seek to create impactful community change and increase the wellness, resiliency and engagement of Indigenous youth.

Take Me Outside Day helps to raise awareness about outdoor learning by encouraging educators to take their learners outside. This FREE virtual event is an entire week full of activities, speakers, and prizes to encourage folks to head beyond the four walls of a classroom! With the help of our 100+ outdoor learning partners, there is something for all ages, grades, and subjects under the three central themes of Indigenous Perspectives & Knowledge, Environmental Education & Climate Change, and Health & Wellbeing.
